I won two Society of Professional Journalists (Connecticut chapter) awards for articles on the housing crisis in Fairfield County and lead in drinking water.
I once worked at an Alaskan fish cannery in the Aleutian Islands. We processed salmon, king crab, tanner crab, tiny shrimp and other fish. The cannery was wet and cold, and despite being surrounded by fresh, in the mess hall we were served Mrs. Hall’s Fish Sticks. The winds over the tundra many days called for great effort to open our bunk-house doors.
I co-wrote and produced a Hollywood movie starring George Segal.
I currently write book reviews on artificial intelligence, health care, tech and other topics for the New York Journal of Books. If you are interested, read my reviews.
As a communications manager and director, I’ve helped tech companies including IBM, GE and Accenture grow.
As a staff journalist for the Fairfield County Advocate and the Pasadena Weekly, and a freelancer for publications including E-The Environment Magazine and the New York Times, I’ve covered everything from housing issues to comedy to the disappearance of the telephone booth.
My graduate academic work explored social movements, religion, and health. I published research on the Catholic response to AIDS, in The Social Consequences of AIDS in the United States (Abt Press).
