Trained by the Mayo Clinic, we practice an evidence-based method called motivational interviewing (MI). It’s a form of compassionate, reflective listening, where the coach stands by your side as you explore your thoughts, feelings, values, and even ambivalences. This is a well-studied approach that has good potential to lead to lasting change.
Having an ideal of a healthier, stronger you sets the stage for successful action. We help you identify priority improvements in areas you care about, such as fitness, nutrition, or managing an existing health condition. Your health and wellness vision then becomes a beacon to follow as you experiment with new activities and developing new habits.
The Mayo Clinic approach to coaching is to invite you to approach your evolving action plans as “experiments.” This is a creative, exploratory way to turn your wellness vision into action. The aim: learn more about yourself as you move toward your vision. We help you bring curiousity and fun into the process. And in our coaching sessons, we encourage you reflect upon what you’ve learned about yourself in order to foster enduring change.
